I try re-reading the chapters and doing flashcards but my grade in chem doesnt get better. I had a F  at the beginning of the year but now i have a C but i really want to improve this class and the more I study the worse grades i get and when I dont study I get better grades. What did you guys do to pass chem? And what are some strategies to improve my study skills?

i study thru tutorials and with friends
redo hw assignments over and over again until the information is embedded into your memory
I agree with Kaitlyn. I would redo my homework and it also helped to do the extra practice problems. I guess it also depends on what topics you're focused on. If it's chemical balances then it's like math because you can apply the same concepts to different problems.

Hopefully you find your own style and you can improve your grade.
Studying with friends can help because they often bring up points you have not thought of yourself or ways to remembering something that can help. Also, having someone else test you on key concepts or terms can help you ensure that you know what you think you know.
I would review my notes in my own words right after class to make sure I understand everything and refresh what I have learned, so that when it's time to really study for the test, I am just re-remembering everything all over again, and everything is a lot easier and less stressful.

Great tips here, everyone. I agree with Pardis and Jose - study groups were key for me in math and science classes! I had a great study group for Calculus my senior year of high school. We would all get together before tests and rework problems and homework assignments (as Kaitlyn and Carlos suggest!), and ask one another when we got stuck or confused. We also had a ton of fun together, even though some of us might not have hung out together outside of school if not for Calculus!

I would definitely suggest reaching out to some other students in your chem class - maybe your lab partner or the person who sits next to you. Studying together is a great way to network and make connections you might not otherwise make!

Hello Jennifer, I remember I struggled with Chemistry but at the end i received an A. I did the flashcards as well but I found taking to the teacher and having him help me figure it out, helped me a lot more because the textbook language was hard to understand.

This tricks do help. The way I remeber things is write things down on a calender by my door that way when I walk out I will see it. I also use my phone because you could add reminders to make sure you dont forget.
