Sports are a big part of every college campus, but school spirit brings pride to the student body.

What is the school spirit like at your school?

I'm attending the Art Institute and it is a little unbelievable sometimes when it comes to school spirit. The counselors, president and dean are always walking around campus talking with the students. We're an art school, so we don't have sports and things like that, but in between classes the counselors throw together these little gets. It's hilarious my first week of school was so much fun! Monday we played gatorade pong. LOL. yup you read right. it was so funny watching people trying to chug gatorade and couldn't. On Tuesday we had a hot dog eating contest. Those were my only two days of school but some students that were there didn't even have class that day, they just came for the activities and since they were there I believe some of them formed groups to work on projects. Its nice to know that I've grown some pretty close bonds with kids that i just met. And some of them commute from Hollister, Los Banos, Salinas, San Francisco and Santa Cruz, that's a pretty far drive to Sunnyvale to go to school for 4 hours, sometimes longer. Everyone loves all the teachers and staff, I haven't heard anyone say one bad thing about either. Its truly something I have never experienced before. I guess that's the closest we get to School Spirit.
At my high school in Santa Maria, we have a whole week dedicated to school spirit. It's called spirit week! Every day for a whole week we have a different theme. On one day we have a class rally and we play games such as tug-of-war against each other. It's a lot of fun and the winning class get bragging rights.

On Friday we usually have a football game against our rival school so we dress up as nerds with colors from the other school.

The soccer games and football games bring in big crowds and they're fun to go to as well.
school spirit and my school is pretty good some people get really into it, but others think that they are to cool for school. we are currently in spirit week for winterfest. its plaid day, kid day, pirate day, country day, blue and gold day!
When I was in high school, school spirit was very important. I attended Bellarmine and rooting for the Bells was a very important thing. In general, I think having school spirit is a great way to come together as a community. It is amazing how many friends you can make at a game or at a rally. It is just one more thing you can have in common with people you might not normally meet.
