Permalink Reply by Mackenzie on December 10, 2010 at 12:26pm Kim, I totally agree - honors and AP classes are a great way to prepare yourself for college-level coursework. Many of my most difficult classes in high school and college ended up being the best learning experiences for me, and while they were hard while I was taking them, I look back on those classes with fondness!
As a college student, do you think the classes you took in high school *did* adequately prepare you for college classes?
Permalink Reply by Kimberlly Araracap on December 16, 2010 at 3:47pm Hi Mackenzie!
I can't tell for sure if the advanced classes I took in high school helped me in the college classes I'm taking right now, because they're not math or science related. But, I can honestly say that my English classes in high school really prepared me with both my communications and English composition class in college! It was a relief to me because instead of struggling with learning to analyze books and other excerpts, all I had to do was tweak some adjustments and polish up my writing. In high school, we also had to give a couple of big speeches, and that helped me a lot with my communications class (a speech class) because I already knew that habits that the teacher would probably dock points of, and that repetition was good.
