Rita Indiana's Jardinera via Club Fonograma
So we don't want Zoomz to be all work (yes, we know, it takes a lot of work to keep the grades up, balance everything and complete the college application process) and no play.
We want to encourage folks to post all kinds of stuff - music you like, bad reality shows you've seen, you get the idea. So someone else should start a thread with "what good, or bad, TV are you watching?"
So in the name of fun and play, here's an introduction to my favorite new music artist, Rita Indiana, from the Dominican Republic. I'm willing to put money down that one year from now, she is going blow up and be huge (the post has a link to where you can download her MP3).
As Club Fonograma wrote,
you can tell we’re heads over heels for Rita Indiana y Los Misterios; it’s such a huge statement but it’s the best contemporary act to come out of la Republica Dominicana and we’re here to witness it! It’s still pretty hard to put a tag on their music, some say it’s Merengue Alternativo while one of my friends from Slant Magazine says it’s “Latin America’s funky answer to Animal Collective” (What? Wait, Maybe?) I feel it’s more of vernacular music sliced up by a scope of unprecedented pop. This is dance music, roots music, pop, folk.
Check it out and enjoy. Feel free to post any other songs by Rita you check out (and make sure to listen to “La Hora de Volve” also).
Permalink Reply by Shirley Gardner on March 3, 2012 at 12:04pm A couple of months ago, my sister introduced to this amazing artist named Jhameel. I don't know what his birth name is, but his new one is Arabic for beautiful. His music is influenced by different things, like pop, indie, and a little bit of hip hop. He's just amazing :D

But songs like "All Night Long" by Mike Tompkins, "Tank" by The Seatbelts, "Ride on a Shooting Star" by The Pillows, and "Core Pride" by UVERworld are awesomely awesome!
