High School Education (Name of School, Graduation Year): San Jose State University, 2011, Sociology

Are you or your siblings the first in your family to attend college?: Yes

What are the biggest challenges you faced or are facing as a high school student? How did you overcome those obstacles?: Staying on track to go to college was definitely my biggest challenge. Making sure I was not only taking the right classes, but getting good grades and being involved in student life. I overcame those obstacles by having a strong support system that consisted of my AVID class, my teachers, and my counselor.

What are your educational goals? What are you doing to reach those goals?: My goal is to graduate from SJSU with a bachelor's degree in the next two years and eventually go on to graduate school. I am taking on classes that will fit into my schedule so that I can succeed in them.

What advice would you give others to be successful in high school and college?: Stay focused. Keep people around you that have your best interest in mind and make sure that you have a set goal. Visit your high school counselor often to remain on track to college.
