A New Friend

Very recently I brought a new puppy into my life. This puppy is the most adorable creature I have ever seen and from the moment I saw him I knew he would make my life much more interesting. Now, I know having a pet is a big responsibility but this guy literally takes up ALL of my time regardless of whether it is free time or not! I didnt realize for instance that he would have the same amount of energy as the Energizer Bunny. He will stay up till 2 in the morning and wake up in as little as 4…See More

Technology on my mind

Hey guys I just wanted to post about a question that has been on my mind lately..-what is the role of technology in the classroom?-This is an issue that is more and more relevant as many new computers and other electronics find their way into our daily lives. Personally I always have a problem with the way computers are used in today's classes as they usually serve either as some sort of free-time activity where students learn nothing, or as an interface for another boring and useless exercise…See More

True teachers

Teachers. We have all have had them and we think we know the good from the bad. We have been inspired by them and fallen asleep in their classes. But what should teachers really be doing during that short time that they are with us? Is it really just making sure we know our times tables and can write in complete sentences?I believe teachers have one of the toughest jobs in this country. I'm not putting other jobs or occupations down-I'm just saying that many teachers don't get the recognition…See More

"Very true.  College is a place to learn about expanding.  In high school, the teachers act like they have most of the answers, but in college, a lot of the teachers admit they don't know everything.  Everyone learns something new…"

What is college really about?

So, you are two-thirds of the way through school, whether you are in high school, college, or even middle school. First of all a congratulations is in order for making it this far! Every year you complete is cause for celebration in my book. Now- I know every student (and every parent) is concerned about GRADES. Yes, it's true. But I believe as a guy who has gone through most of it, that grades are not the only thing that you should be gaining from all these years you give to the school system…See More

March 1st March!

So today(March1) was the international protest and march day and thousands upon thousands around the world spoke out against unjust governments and unkept promises. In California the big issue was our struggling public education system and the cuts that are hitting home more and more often. At my school, UC Santa Cruz, students cut classes, teachers canceled their lessons, and everyone amassed at the base of campus and shut down the roads in protest. Although it was raining, many students and…See More
