Profile Information

What kind of member are you?
Other
High School Education (Name of School, Graduation Year)
University of California, Santa Clara, Sociology
Are you or your siblings the first in your family to attend college?
Yes
What are the biggest challenges you faced or are facing as a high school student? How did you overcome those obstacles?
The biggest challenge that I faced as a high school student was socioeconomics and being the first in my family to attend college. I did not come from a high school where the the majority of students attended college so I received very little help from my school or my parents navigating the entrance requirements and procedures. I overcame the obstacle by enrolling in as many support programs at my university.
What are your educational goals? What are you doing to reach those goals?
My educational goals are to always be a student of life. Now that I have completed my formal education I can now take classes that simply interest me or for fun. I want to always be someone who loves to learn and is willing to challenge herself.
What advice would you give others to be successful in high school and college?
The biggest advice I can give you is to find supportive and intelligent people and really listen to them. You are going to need to work hard so just make that an expectation and part of your mind set. When things get tough call a good friend for a pep talk, regroup then get busy conquering your challenges!
What do you like to do for fun? (Select all that apply)
Camping, Cooking, Dancing, Exercise, History, Movies, Photography, Reading, Science, Shopping, Sleeping, Television, Traveling, Other

Wanted to see if I can get your help on something. We created a survey to get feedback on the community and was hoping you could take 10 min to take it. If you complete it, we will enter you in a drawing for a $25 iTunes card.
