It's all coming to an end

I am officially graduating in 10 days! This next week and a half is going to fly by with all the senior activities and check-out process for graduation but I know I'm going to enjoy every second of it. For the most part I'm feeling content with graduating and leaving high school as well as with my decision to go to Foothill College for the next two years. Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst.

This past weekend I got my first "not admitted" status from a college that I applied to. It was actually one of my top choices, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. My initial response was just utter disbelief. I knew it was one of my reach schools, but it's still not fun news to receive. What kind of member are you?: High School Student

High School Education (Name of School, Graduation Year): Los Altos High School, 2011

Are you or your siblings the first in your family to attend college?: Yes

What are the biggest challenges you faced or are facing as a high school student? How did you overcome those obstacles?: During my Junior year I struggled through passing my physics class. My grade dropped as low as a 'D' in the middle of one of the quarters and it caused a lot of stress because I knew that if I would have actually received that 'D' I wouldn't be eligible for UC schools. I began going in to see my teacher at least 3 times a week at times like during his prep period, lunch, and after school. I managed to raise my grade up to a 'B+' in one quarter which made me feel unbelievably accomplished. But better yet, my physics teacher awarded me the "Outstanding Physics Student" award out of all his students. I didn't receive the highest grade, but he saw me work hard and strive to prove that my academic abilities are far better than 'D' work and so he decided that I deserved the recognition.

Almost all seniors applying to CSU, UC, and Private schools should be wrapping up with applications now with the exception of maybe a couple Private schools whose deadlines aren't until February 1st!
