Seniors....FAFSA!

FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid) begins its filing process on January 1st! Here's a quick little hint/tip: The filing pool is open from Jan 1-March 1st BUT, the closer you submit it to when it opens, the better chance you have of receiving more financial aid. Think of it as a "parking spot". If you submit on January 1st, you're parked at the very front of…

Is winter break too long?

Whats up everyone?  Hope everyone is having a great time being off of school and having a great holiday season!  I am pretty stoked on how much snow is falling in Tahoe, but I have been too sick to even ride the fresh powder! :(

When I was younger, winter break felt way too short.  However, going to Sonoma State University changed that feeling by having an intersession.  This means that Sonoma State's winter break is 1.5 months long!  I love to snowboard, so I NEVER took…

Jolly Good Time!

What's the best/most productive way you spent a break during high school or college? Or, if your school has "intersession," how are you spending it this year?

For most of you, vacation has finally begun. School’s officially over, you’ve wrapped up anything academic, and are ready to enjoy the next few weeks of vacation in bliss. My concoction for the perfect lazy holiday calls catching up on T.V. shows, eating…

Finals Week-Senior Year

This week is finals week at my school and the deadlines are closing in. On top of school projects, homework, and studying for finals I am still filling out my Common Application for the Private Universities as well as searching for scholarships.

This time of the year is probably one of the most stressful times for high school seniors because we have to juggle school work along with college apps and scholarship apps unlike the lower classmen who don't have the extra…

Taking Notes

My transition from high school to college went smoothly because I already knew some friends since the first day of school. Everything was going great until I was recently reminded of how much note-taking we had to take for my Child Development class. Since the semester is almost ending, my Child Development teacher decided to pile a lot of notes about researches and studies to us, which she mentioned would be on our…

What happens now?

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I was one of the few people in my group of friends who didn't know exactly what I wanted to do after graduation. I finished off the year relaxed, knowing that I would find a job, and had a ton of fun in the last few weeks my friends and I lived together.

I reached out to my connections - family friends who are recruiters, friends who worked at…

Graduate school?

As I've mentioned before, I am currently in my 3rd year of college. While it feels like yesterday that I was first moving to Berkeley and starting my first year of college, it is now time for me to start thinking about what I want to do after I graduate. I think that is the biggest challenge…

Adding Classes: A Challenge Worth Taking!

Hi Everyone!

I know fall quarter or semester is about to wrap up. Good luck making it through final projects and tests! Almost there and a nice long break is right around the corner!

When you come back to school it's new classes and new faces. I was thinking about what it's like to return to school and have to sort out a new schedule of classes that, more often than not, doesn't work out on the first try. The first weeks of the new quarter or…
