How many times have you heard the word "stress"?!
-It seems that feeling stressed is “what’s in” these days, right? But sometimes, it is TOO MUCH!
The pressure of having good grades, changing from one school to another one, problems with the guys or girls, problems at home, and even fights between parents ... this all just make us feel very worried or stressed.
Ooohh, and if this were not enough, the guy or the girl you like doesn’t even know you are alive! So looking good, also becomes one of your priorities ... you "stress out" about what to wear the next day, and why not, how to hide your face from others so they don’t see all those pimples!
The middle school and high school years are awesome (really, they are!) and most people look back on them as some of the best periods of their lives. Buuut, as you know, it is also a time of constant changes and much drama, something that really stresses you out, isn’t it?
So, do you feel extremely tired (keep on going to bed at 2:00 AM every day!), your head hurts, you literally feel out of breath, you can’t stand even being told "hello", you feel horrible, stupid, and think that everyone is against you ... Relax! This happens to everyone!
Here are 5 tips that maybe can help you:
- Find an adult you trust who can help you make a study plan. This will help you feel less stressed! The better we organize our time, the more productive we are in school!
- It is important to tell your parents that you feel angry or stressed. Good communication will prevent you from having unnecessary problems. If your parents know that something is going on with you, they can support you, rather than scold and ground you for "being rude”.
- School is not everything! Sometimes it is great to sit down and watch a movie, play a board game, or watch a TV series (don’t over-do it though!).
- We all have a friend who we talk to about all our problems, so if today is one of those days, just call you BFF and VENT!
- Go outside, play a sport! Some people prefer more solitary activities such as running or swimming, while others prefer team sports like basketball or soccer.
So what do you think? I am interested in hearing what you have to say. Please share any comments, questions, or tips!
