Benefits from choosing your own classes

One of my favorite things about going to college is the opportunity to pick out the classes I needed to take. Unlike high school, all college students have the decision of choosing their class schedules and the professors/teachers they want to take the course with. Some of you can relate to me, but I often had one teacher in high school that was not teaching at their full ability. This frustrated me a lot because I did not learn and felt it was a waste of time.

When I started college, the issue I mentioned about was resolved. One reason was because I had the decision of choosing the professors I wanted. A helpful site that helped me through this process was ratemyprofessor. Ratemyproffessor is a website filled with biased information about professors or teachers. This website gives you an idea of what the professor may be like. For example, a review of one of professor I had previously was; “This is one of the best instructors I ever had. His grading system composes of 3 midterm and no final. Very, easy class.” Usually when I see reviews like these, I try to take the course.

Another benefit about choosing your classes is the time and day. Below is my upcoming schedule for school. As you can see, I do not have any classes really on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I usually take those days of for myself either to work, study, or simply have fun. I also do not start early in the morning because I do not learn well in the morning. I am more tuned in at night and afternoon.

Last but not least, my favorite thing about choosing my own classes is getting to take fun courses such as rock climbing, kick boxing, food science, art, photo, and other academic classes. This quarter I'm not because I have done the maximum requirement for GEs . Basically, all colleges have a wide range of classes you can choose from that will fulfill your requirement to graduate as if you are in high school.

Overall, these are just some basic ideas about having the benefits of choosing your own classes. Hope this helps you future college students.

Happy holidays.

Oops sorry man, I just posted a blog on the same topic, sorry I didn't see yours earlier. But yeah I agree that picking your own schedule makes things easier. I also liked scheduling my classes in the afternoon, not only because I was more awake, but also if you have to drive, you won't have to deal with traffic!
