Deadlines: Tricks for Remembering Them

Most things have some sort of time limit on them, like the food in your fridge, the amount of time in a day, or that pesky application that's due in two days that you haven't even started on.  Just recently, I knew I had an application due on January 15th, but I didn't remember which application it was.  So, I did the wrong application, which wasn't due for a month, then the day before the application was due, I checked the due dates.  I did manage to get the right application in on time, but I was scrambling.

So, to help avoid being pressured by due dates, here are some tips:

1.  Make sure you know which assignment/application/something is due on which date.  Just remembering the dates may not help you, especially if you get the assignments or something else mixed up in your head.

2.  Write the dates and assignments down somewhere permanent.  Writing it down on your hand will hold for maybe a day and a half at the longest.  Write it down in a calendar, on your computer, in an email to yourself, or even just in the notes section on a cell phone.  Or a piece of paper that then gets put on your desk.  Make sure you can find said paper again.

3.  Double check.  If you get the assignments mixed up, some professors are not understanding about turning in a late assignment, especially in a large class.  And even if you're sure you have the right assignment with the right date, it never hurts to check again.

There are many ways to remember deadlines and assignment due dates.  How you remember them is up to you.

This tricks do help. The way I remeber things is write things down on a calender by my door that way when I walk out I will see it. I also use my phone because you could add reminders to make sure you dont forget.

Yep, I do all of those things too. I usually write the due dates down someplace I know for sure I will see it, like on a piece of paper taped to my door, or on a huge calendar on the wall next to the TV. These tricks definitely help.
