Many students enter college with the prospects of becoming a part of the campus Greek life.  We hear about it all the time in movies, TV shows, commercials, etc. about the many fun and integrating experiences that a sorority or a fraternity can offer. These groups are said to create close bonds, friendships, and networking opportunities that enrich the college experience. When you enter a typical college campus, you will see many Greek banners, stands, or posters adorning the walls which signify its importance in college life. Every year at the beginning of the term, there is something called RUSH week where every sorority and fraternity have information stands so that interested students can ask questions. During RUSH week, students can meet every Greek organization to see which one is right for them based on the personalities that make up of it.

This is a very exciting experience as many students describe it as an experience where they “discover their home sororities/fraternities”. During this RUSH week, students can spend time with the Greek organizations at off-campus outing events such as bowling, pizza parties, or a movie event. These organizations are said to be able to offer not only a sisterhood/brotherhood that enriches a college experience but creates bonds that last a lifetime. This is an exciting process since this week is usually the most festive during the school year. Once initiated, you are a part of these organizations for life. Even many celebrities, actors, and political figures are a part of these organizations as well! While sororities/fraternities create lifelong friendships, they also open many doors of opportunity such as networking or future job opportunities. Once you join the sorority/fraternity, you become a part of an organization that is not only makes up your college experience, but life experience.
