You are probably excited to start your junior year because once you are done with this year you will only have a year until you graduate. So junior year should be a piece of cake you have been in high school for two years and you have made it so far. Like I said before make sure you meet your a-g requirements to graduate and to get into college if that’s your plan after graduation.  By now you should know if you pass the CAHSEE which is a math and English test that is taken your sophomore year that determines if you graduate or not. If you have passed it you are ok but if you haven’t you will take it again so be ready for it.  Also start looking onto classes to get you ready for the ACT or the SAT tests. There are some colleges that don’t require these test so just double check if the colleges you are applying require it. You could take it as many times as you want to improve your scores but it looks better if you take it once and you do great. So if you want to be one of this people make sure you prepare for the test. Your high school will give you information on when the test are going to be given and if there is any classes they will have to prepare you for the test. Also have in mind that there is a price for these tests and also for some of the classes to prepare.

Another thing you could do your junior year is to go to CCOC. Some of the high school offers this and my high school was one who did offer this program. What CCOC is: is a program that will teach you about different careers and you could take any class you are interest on learning more about.  So you learn about a career you are looking to go into after high school and you get high school credit too. You will go half of the day to CCOC and the other half to your regular school but don’t worry school provides transportation to get to the other school and back.

Don’t forget to talk to your academic counselor to make sure you are in track to graduate and go to the career center to start looking to colleges to apply for your senior year. Going to the career center has it benefits like learning about scholarships you could apply to, you could know when the recruiter of the college you are interest in will be at your high school so you could ask them any questions you have and career center also helps you see what are some of the careers that fits you by giving you a test. So don’t be afraid to ask questions and go to them whenever you are in doubt about anything. They are there to help and if they don’t help don’t give up just look for someone else.
