When I was in High School, I worried a lot about getting good grades.

I was always trying to do better and fortunately, my dedication and hard work paid off!

Sometimes, however, I did feel bummed out because I wasn't doing too well in some classes such as History and English. Those weren't my best subjects!

I worried that I wouldn't be prepared for my college classes. I even thought about the worst case scenarios: being rejected from my dream school or having to flunk out because I wasn't doing too well.

I know that many students worry about the same things. My two brothers in high school have similar concerns. They are like me; they both like math and science better than History and English. I guess it runs in the family :)

With time, I have come to realize that it's okay to not be good at everything. The important thing is to not give up and to remember that if we try our best, our teachers and mentors will motivate is continue moving forward. If we need extra help, there is nothing wrong in asking for it. This was something I struggled with too! I did not like asking for help. I wanted to do things on my own and I felt better when I overcame an obstacle by myself.

Whether it's a certain subject in school or not having the discipline to study and do homework, the BATTLE IS IN YOUR MIND! These thoughts should not hold you back from being successful and reaching college and beyond. Keep a strong work ethic and always look for ways to improve. Always look to grow and get better at what you do. The biggest mistake is to think that you know everything you need to know. Learning does not stop when you get your degree. Learning is a lifetime experience!
